Sarah-Jane Norman

Mean Lesbian #2

(b.1984, Sydney, Australia) is a performing artist  and writer. Coming from a strong grounding in contemporary movement practice and experimental theatre, as well as visual arts and cultural studies, her inter-disciplinary practice draws variously on all of these things. Her work with various companies and collectives (such as La Pocha Nostra, Dairakudakan and PACT Theatre) sits alongside an extensive body of solo work. She is known predominantly for her carefully crafted one-to-one performances, which explore the territory of intimacy, longing and the body as a repository of cultural and personal memory. Parallel to her performance practice, she has a growing profile in the Australian contemporary writing community, as a poet, experimental fiction writer, essayist, and reviewer. Frida and Anita will be her first film role.
